Event Report
With JP doing his officiating bit, Lizzy Ferme agreed to jump in as co-driver for the event. We were pretty pumped and hoping for a top three finish, but as luck would have it we ended our race on the first stage.
20kms - tulip 58 - in to Genges we had a little brake problem. The pedal went hard as a rock (no boost) and despite me standing on the pedal we weren't slowing down. Attempted to throw the car into the corner, but with way too much speed we ended up going backwards over the edge...
Over an hour later, Simon Leigh and Mark Sessions (Sweep B) came to our rescue and had us back on the road in less than a minute - thanks guys! Oh how I wish we were car 36, not 7 - we wouldn't have run out of late time! Perhaps there are some advantages running at the back of the field.
Thankfully we sustained only a dent in the bumper and all was fine, so we decided to get our money's worth and finish the event.
Was pretty pleased with our times. We set third fastest on a couple of stages, fourth quickest on another couple. Making a guess about a realistic time on Stage 1, we would have come home 5th outright.
The event was pretty challenging - 50% DNF rate says it all! Great to see a new stage and the others mixed up just enough to confuse those of us who think we've got some local knowledge. More of it!
Thanks to Lizzy for sitting in the silly seat and Geoff and Glenn for servicing. Let's hope for a better run in the Nat Cap.
